Admittedly I am totally more excited for spring styles than  fall in light of Paris Fashion Week and in wake of NYFW, MFW, and LFW; however, we must bring our heads back to the season we are actually entering. Scouring Fall 2012 RTW collections, Proenza Schouler sparked my interest with this '90s-meets-the-East collection. Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez's Himalayan vacation clearly inspired the protective shapes and crisp design of the pieces. Their journey takes us through casual cotton miniskirts and over-sized tops to samurai fighter-esque quilted  biker jackets and leather to formal and delicately silk pieces embroidered landscapes, peacocks, and pheasants and obi belts. Personally, I am now obsessed with quilted fabric and over-sized sweaters with miniskirts (probably paired with some sweater tights) this fall.

What inspiration do you take from Proenza Schouler's collection into this fall?

Outfit - '70s Jeffrey Campbell

Tulle Dress via Sweet Lady Jane, Necklace & Jeffrey Campbell shoes (here) via Stella Mae
Looking at the forecast, it appeared last week that Friday's 77 degrees was going to be the warmest temperature for the rest of fall, so I decided to take advantage of the last summer day. After examining my closet (trying to find an outfit to epitomize summer that I hadn't already worn to death) I rediscovered this retro Tulle dress I purchased a couple years ago. Because its shapeless silhouette makes it impossible to wear without heels or something like a cardigan or belt to pull it in (like here), I wore it for the first time with these super-summery Jeffrey Campbells. Fun fact - work got this shoe to sell, but we only got it in brown... or so we thought until we opened up this size 6.5 box and discovered this beautiful coral color. Planning on getting the brown, I was over the moon to discover the new color and bought them that day. I now think this shoe was meant to come to me to be a burst of color to complete this outfit.

What was your favorite find this summer?

ps. This creamy tomato soup and hummus sandwich from Stone Soup was the perfect early dinner before work!

Get the Look - Jessica Alba @NYFW

NYFW is the time that you can sport that crazy outfit in your closet, that you generally have nowhere to show off. For those of us unlucky enough to be unable to attend fashion week, we can admire at home the outfits our favorite models, designers, editors, and actresses throw together. Jessica Alba's plaid/leather ensemble stood out to me among the suits, shorts and Dior as an outfit not only chic at fashion week, but wearable for anyone this fall. By pairing the classic cold-weather black with a bright, patterned skirt, Jessica shows that fall transitional looks can be bold.

1. Sanctuary Vegan Leather Jacket - $159
2. Coincidence & Chance Seamless 3/4 Sleeve Top - $24
3. French Connection Perspex Belt - $62
5. ASOS Skirt with Soft Pleats - $49
or Topshop Knitted Tweedy Check Skirt - $76
6. Elliot Lucca Cardoba Clutch - $98

Which looks would you like to emulate from NYFW street style?

Outfit - So Long

AA High-Waisted JeansMiilla Top, Audrey 3+1 Bralet, Inca Sun Leather Backpack, Timberland Heels, all via Stella Mae

As fall begins breezing through BTV, we have to wear summer-to-fall transitional outfits like this sheer top, peep-toes, and cuffed jeans. Ever since the "fall" semester started up at the end of August, I have been waiting for fall to actually push its way through the mountains. No offense to my summer wardrobe pieces, but I'm sick of them! I want to wear tights and sweaters and scarves and these jeans! (Confession though, I'm so in-love with the pants that I have been wearing them many times a week anyway.) With fall styles continually entering Stella Mae and the other BTV boutiques (since July I might add), I have been impatiently awaiting the blissful days that are chilly enough to wear my old, new, and adorable cold-weather pieces. I've begun digging out my long-sleeves and sweaters in hopes that the weather will catch on to my desired style. The one piece I'm going to miss wearing into the winter are these Timberland pumps I have worn excessively all summer (exhibit one).
What summer piece will you miss wearing the most in the upcoming season?
